As a community playgroup we want our children to be involved in and with their local community. Over the last few months we have organised various visits for them. These have included a visit from the farming community and we also went on visits to local primary schools and a nursing home. As you can see from the photos, a good time was had by all!

Sitting in the cab of a tractor was very exciting!

We had a visit from local farming contractor, Brian Dickey & Co, who brought his tractor and baler to the playgroup grounds. The children loved getting to sit in the tractor cab and seeing the huge machines.

On the bus to go to sing for the residents of a local nursing home
The children enjoy a treat after singing at a local nursing home

The children had an exciting day out as they visited Prospect Nursing Home. As it was coming close to Christmas, they sang Nativity songs for the residents and were well rewarded afterwards with lots of buns! Also in the run-up to Christmas the group visited Ballymena Primary School to see Mr Hullabaloo and also went to hear some storytelling and a Nativity Play at Dunclug Primary.

Our post box for letters to Santa

Coming up to Christmas we had our own special post box for posting letters to Santa. As you can see it looks like Santa has been here to collect some letters and left a bit of a mess behind him! So as you can tell we’ve had a busy few months and the children have had lots of opportunities to connect with the local community.

High Kirk Community Playgroup is based in Ballymena. It provides a quality learning environment for the pre-school child. The sessions starts at 9:10am and end at 12:10pm from Monday to Friday. Please get in touch if you would like to find out more.
